This New Years Eve was AWESOME!!! As per usual, we hosted our 4th annual NYE party. We had a pretty huge spread of food & drink and as people joined the party the variety of food and drink grew. The party saw old friends, new friends, and people we had never met. Sharma also got in on the fun with 2 of his doggy buddies!
Leading up to New Years, I thought that the party would kind of suck because I wasn’t going to enjoy any of the tasty beers or mixed drinks we would be serving. I was soooo wrong. We stocked up on supplies for “Mocktails” (non-alcoholic drinks) and they were delicious! Shirley temples and sparkling apple juice were my jam!
As you know, when your at a party that lasts for a quite a few hours you munch on food and drink pretty much the whole time. After a while, you start to develop what everyone so fondly refers to as a “food baby” as your stomach keeps expanding the more you eat. Well – being pregnant is the perfect excuse!!! I started out the evening with my stomach looking relatively flat, and ended with an adorable ‘Baby bump’ i.e. Food Baby!!!
We had grand plans to walk 1/2 mile downtown but it was so cold outside we piled in the apartment. About 1 minute till midnight Brice was able to share with our friends how much our group means to us and how psyched we are to have them along on our newest 2017 baby adventure! The ball dropped and we toasted with an amazing bottle of beer that we brought back from Belgium last February. Brice individually thanked each friend for being a part of our lives and shared a way that they had impacted us over the past year/years.
The party continued long into the night discussing the 2016 year, hopes for 2017, and sharing stories – some we’ve all heard a million times but are still the best, and some new! They say it takes a village to raise a baby. If that’s the case – I’m so excited to raise our kid with a village that Brice & I love, cherish, trust, respect, and value more than anything… 2017 is going to be awesome!
