Are we ready?

Are we ready?

That’s always the hardest question to answer. I’ll start by saying this… you can never be fully ready for something. That’s what makes adventuring so fun. After I led a team up Rainier in July, we had said we were ready to stop preventing having a kid and if it happened then it happened. We went about our lives as normal and decided if it happened than awesome, if not, no worries.

In mid-September we took a trip to Kentucky and Pennsylvania to visit our families for about 10 days. Two days after we got back, Brice’s boss informed him that he was going to close up the office and work by himself from home so he was going to have to let Brice go at the end of November. When Brice told me we had the same thought – let’s put this whole baby thing on hold… welp it was already too late.

Isn’t that how it usually works though? God gives you a little transition and then says “Here’s a little bit more transition, and it’s a big one. I know you won’t be able to handle it, but that’s totally OK. That’s why I’m here!”

All in all, I don’t think we would have ever been really ready, but hey – it’ll be fun right? Plus we’re stoked to start a family around so many amazing friends who have been such a huge support network and community over the past few years. Our friend group has experienced growth, tragedy, death, marriage, life, moving, home buying, and so much more. This new little nugget will be so loved and cared for by all!

As Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, once said
“Adventure is just bad planning”

I’m ok with a bit of adventure!
